We don’t think it’s a ‘nice to have’; we think it’s sensible to have. Wouldn’t you rather have complete peace of mind for a few extra dollars than to be completely exposed? Think you are immune? Think again. Don’t forget Mr. Murphy and his law.
While your moving insurance does not prevent an accident from happening it provides monetary protection for your valuable belongings (your treasures and trophies) in the event one happens.
Planned Directions, your five star Mississauga movers help to eliminate the stress and worries of losing or getting your belongings damaged – consider the coverage that’s right for you.
Coverage That’s Adequate
First a word to the wise: Never choose a mover who doesn’t offer insurance coverage. Here’s where we start to separate the sheep from the goat. Reputable movers are really concerned about the safety of your belongings and therefore, should offer you insurance. Ask for an explanation of what is covered and any exclusions or limitations.
It’s important to understand the insurance that is being offered. In 1930’s value 0.60 cents/lb was adequate coverage. That could replace your valuables in the event of loss or damage. Not so in today’s world of inflation and price increases. A reasonable coverage is $30/lb to adequately compensate. Be sure to check that you are properly covered by the mover. Isn’t it better to be safe than sorry?
Remember the inventory you had taken before? Well, well, it will come in handy during the insurance process now. Your inventory should include a list of the items being moved, the value or replacement price of each, whether it’s fragile or not, and what type of condition it is in.
This might seem like a tedious task but its well worth the cost in the event of an accident or misplaced items. It’s especially important to do this if moving internationally because of the many customs and inspections to which your belongings will be subjected during the trip.
Your moving insurance should not be optional. Mr. Murphy is alive and well! Reputable Toronto movers; Mississauga movers or Oakville movers would agree.
